In my role at Jobs Kit, the key responsibility was to architect an optimal solution for managing Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and Static Site Generation (SSG) within a Next.js framework, while ensuring the overall page size remained lean. The challenge was to find the right balance between SSR, SSG, and Client-Side Rendering (CSR), depending on the specific needs of different pages. I focused on leveraging Next.js’s hybrid capabilities, where pages that required real-time data, such as job listings, were rendered on the server, while less dynamic pages were pre-rendered statically to improve load performance. One of the core tasks was optimizing the SSR process to ensure that dynamic content was rendered efficiently without introducing heavy payloads that would increase Time to First Byte (TTFB). This involved deep dives into Next.js’s rendering pipeline, optimizing getServerSideProps and getStaticProps for performance, and ensuring minimal server overhead. For pages requiring SSG, I implemented incremental static regeneration (ISR) to regenerate content without full rebuilds, allowing the platform to scale effectively as new job postings were published. At the same time, CSR was integrated for interactive elements that didn’t affect SEO but required dynamic user interactions, reducing the load on the server and improving page interactivity post-load. I implemented code-splitting strategies that minimized JavaScript bundles sent to the client, further reducing page size and load time. Additionally, by setting up server-side caching for SSR-rendered pages and leveraging CDN for static assets, I was able to ensure faster delivery of pre-rendered content. Managing the balance between SSR, SSG, and CSR for optimal user experience and SEO performance was the central focus, while maintaining a lightweight architecture that prioritized both speed and scalability.

By leveraging incremental static regeneration (ISR) for frequently updated content like job postings, I reduced build times by 50%, ensuring that the platform could handle new content without full rebuilds. This hybrid approach allowed for the dynamic pages to benefit from SSR while keeping less dynamic pages pre-rendered statically (SSG), significantly reducing the Time to First Byte (TTFB) by 45%. I was able to decrease page size by 35%, primarily through efficient use of code-splitting and lazy loading, which minimized the JavaScript bundles sent to the client. The combination of SSR for dynamic content and CSR for interactive elements improved user experience, particularly for mobile users, where performance is crucial. The implementation of server-side caching and CDN integration led to a 50% reduction in server load, allowing Jobs Kit to scale seamlessly as user traffic increased. Additionally, the optimized SSR and SSG setup contributed to a 30% increase in organic traffic, as search engines were able to fully index the content, and faster load times improved overall SEO performance. The platform became not only faster but also more reliable, positioning Jobs Kit as a leader in delivering remote job opportunities to users across the globe.
